All You Need is Love

All you need is love…
You may have heard things about the impending “end of the world”. So have I. It was kinda making me nervous… not because I am afraid of it (cause I’m not), but because I might miss it. Weird, huh?
Well, it’s not the actual end of the world, but it will not be the same to us. There will be really, really tough times, famines, deaths, etc, but Jesus will come and just grab people who are ready to go with Him. Then, Jesus will actually reign on Earth (the new-school Earth, after He fixes it) for 1000 years. That’s the part I’m super excited about.

I was in church last Sunday and they were actually talking about it… strange since my husband has been talking about it for like a month now. The talk was about being ready. So then I started thinking about my level of preparedness. Am I ready? Like really ready… for God?
As this thought was floating around in my head, the pastor started talking about how to be ready. I thought, “Hmmm, how perfect.” I’m about to start making a list, when he said, “Love.”  That’s the bottom line? Wow.
He explained that love is the reason for everything. God loves us. God sent His Son to sacrifice His life for us because He loves us and does not want us doomed. He wants us to be able to be with Him… because He LOVES us. Wow.
So, the pastor said the best way to prepare your self is love. Love purely and with everything you have. Love your husband or your wife, your friends, your enemies (yes, your enemies)… EVERYONE… with all of your heart and soul and spirit.
Of course, you have to know and confess that you accept the fact that our Father really did send His Son here, as a human, to be tempted and tried, and beaten, and killed so that His blood would be shed as our own Passover blood so that we could all be forgiven.
Once you do that, you get to know God. You can actually be friends with God and talk with Him… like you do your parents, children, friends, co-workers… Like a real living being because that is what He is. He has a sense of humor. He has favorite tastes and colors and projects. He likes coffee, apparently black.
Now that you are getting to know Him, you can love Him and share that same love with others, just by loving them. Do you think it’s right that God loves you, but you hate some people or that you are bitter to those you dislike? You don’t have to be best friends with everyone, but we can still be compassionate and loving to others.
Strangely enough, my 4-year-old son has been asking me if God is getting our new house and our new bodies ready for when we go with Him. I tell him, “Yes,” and this morning he asks me why we haven’t gone with God yet. I tell him, “Because God is not ready for us yet.” He says, “Why not?” I say, “Because He wants us to stay here and spread nice words and love other people.” He says, “Okay, but can we ask Him when He will be ready for us?” I say, “Sure, ask Him when you pray.” He says, “Can we call Him?” I say, “Yes, when you pray.” He says, “Why doesn’t God have a cell phone?” I say, “Because He can always hear everyone and He doesn’t need a cell phone.” He says, “Okay.” So I guess that was satisfactory to him, finally.
My goal is to have people look at me and wonder what it is about me that is so special so that I can tell them, “It is God.” I want to love people and help people the way my Father has loved and helped me.
This is what prepares me to be with our God.
