Turn On the Light!

In the beginning… God said “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good…

Without light, obviously we would live in darkness.

Could you imagine living in darkness? In total darkness 24/7… that is if there was 24/7? Have you ever been in a room without light and you can’t see your hand in front of your face?

That’s the way life would be without the sun, the moon, or the stars. Our world would be cold and barren; there wouldn’t be any trees, grass, or flowers. People couldn’t see good enough to build so there wouldn’t be buildings, streets, cars. For that matter, you couldn’t drive and would have to walk everywhere with your hands outstretched so you wouldn’t bump into anything.

You would have to feel everything; could you imagine what you would eventually touch? What would we eat? How would we eat? Would we wear clothes? Brush our hair? There are so many things we take for granted because we can see. It would always be cold… very cold. We could stay warm if we could see to light a fire. Could we even find firewood? But wait… there aren’t any trees. Could you imagine living in darkness?

Jesus said “I am the light of the world”.

Without light, obviously we would live in darkness.

Could you imagine living in darkness? What if Jesus never came to earth? There wouldn’t be a New Testament. Would we still be studying the Old Testament? Would we still be trying to please God with our works and our sacrifices, only to go to hell? Our perception of “good” is like filthy rags to the splendor of our Holy God.

I would have to say, though, if you think about it, most of the world lives as if Jesus never came. We live our own lives through our own rule and reign as if we were God. That is why I ask, "Would we still live like the people of the Old Testament? Or would we wonder in the desert for 4,000 years, because we thought we were 'the way and the truth and the life?'" Jesus is the light of our path. If He isn’t in your life 100%, then you walk in darkness. Could you imagine living in darkness?

Jesus said “You are the light of the world”.

Without light, obviously we would live in darkness.

Could you imagine living in darkness?

TURN ON THE LIGHT!
