Become One Flesh

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. (Gen.2:24)
For the women, do you remember a time when a big glamorous church wedding was all you dreamed about? For the men, all you wanted to do was to give the woman of your dreams the happiest day of her life. So you did what you could to fulfill her dreams. And the big dream was to live happily ever after. These words were lifetime vows you said to one another: “I, (name), take you (name), to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.”

Now, having a big glamorous church wedding is just a status quo. Some people get married, do to circumstances. Some people get married because they don’t want to be alone. Not because they are in love with each other. And for a memorable wedding they go to Vegas and get married by Elvis. People are now asking there soon to be spouse to sign a prenuptial agreement. In other words, I don’t expect our marriage to last and you can’t have what is mine. The divorce rate has remained the same for the past ten years. Around 50% of first marriages end in divorce. 65% for second marriages, the rates are higher for three or more marriages.

Note: If you are a person that is or has been divorced, you must first recognize that this is a sin. The bible says so. But, God with His love, mercy and grace through His Son Jesus Christ forgives us of our sins. Amen. God pre-ordains marriages, he knows who you are, who you should be, and blesses you with a suitable mate. When you and your mate stand before God and say your vows… (Vow: a solemn promise or assertion; one by which a person is bound to an act, service or condition.) …these vows are meant to be for life.

Here is an image for you

              GOD

HUSBAND          WIFE

If the husband seeks God and a relationship with him, he will move closer to God. In the same if the wife seeks God and a relationship with him, she will move closer to God. Using the triangle as a visual, as the husband and the wife get closer to God, they get closer to each other. If they leave God out of their marriage they will stay at the bottom of the triangle. If you keep seeking God in your marriage it will last a lifetime, the way God meant it to be.
