Where Did He Go?

You are a kind person. You are a caring person. You are a loving person. You are a godly person. You are a Christian… aren’t you?

These things are just some of the characteristics of a person who has been saved by the blood of Jesus. These are the things you would expect from one who proclaims to be a Christian. So, why then, aren’t we showing the love and respect to others… the very same love and respect God shows us?

What would you do if your brother took a bullet so you didn’t have to; so you could be here to raise your family? Or so you could be here to help your parents? And would you then take on the responsibility of caring for his family, as well?

Do you realize that your Brother has already died so that you could live? You have accepted Jesus as your Savior, but have you accepted Him as your Brother? Have you decided to care for his family that is still here with you? Have you taken this opportunity at life to raise your family and help your parents? Are you helping your Father after the acceptance He has given you?

If you have, are you still living this way, or did your flame die down? Do you still offer your love and help to your brothers, sisters, parents, friends, and co-workers in need? Do you show them the simplicity of a caring heart every day?

Too often we see Christians acting out of turn, acting like fools. Let’s look at the word “fool” for a minute. The Bible defines fools in several places:

A fool is a person who denies the existence of God. Referenced in Psalms 14:1

A fool is a person who trusts in his own heart. Referenced in Proverbs 28:26
A fool is a person who despises wisdom and instruction. Referenced in Proverbs 1:7
A fool is a person who is quick-tempered. Referenced in Ecc. 7:9; Proverbs 14:16-17
A fool is a person who scoffs at sin. Referenced in Proverbs 14:9; 10:23

So why do these Christians act like this? It could be because we can grow comfortable knowing that we have already been saved and we think, somehow, that it’s okay to not (at the least) try to repay God for His incredible kindness. We may grow too busy for Him. We kind of move Him around in our lives, further and further down our list of priorities.

Once this happens, we revert back to our worldly selves, acting out of selfish, insecure, or fleshly feelings. We forget (or refuse) to consult God when we have an issue or concern, or when we may be misguided or lied to by others. We may start to believe things we hear from others. We may start to involve ourselves in gossip and judgment of others.

We may be quick to pass gossip, without even bothering to see if it’s true. Maybe it’s from a trusted source. But, how do you know it’s trusted? Did you bother to check to see what God has to say about the truthfulness of the information you are so quick to spread to others? Do you care if your hasty participation in this questionable banter may cause lasting damage to honest friendships?

Where did God go in your life? Where did you put Him? If he isn’t the top on your hierarchy, I would suggest you get Him back up there with the same quickness that you deserted His authority.
