You know it's wrong, but you do it anyway...

The Bible says that we are forgiven in so many places, like in Hebrews where we are reminded of the new covenant God made with us; "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws on their hearts, and I will write them on their minds." -Hebrews 10:16
You see, back in the good ol' days, people made sacrifices as their apologies for the things they did wrong against the Lord. Then God sent us His Son, as a man to suffer and die as the ultimate sacrifice. So then our repentance changed. Now, we ask for forgiveness, and we are given just that... over and over again. ...

So after we get to know God and accept His Son, Jesus, as our true Savior, these laws are placed on our hearts and our minds. We begin to know the things that are correct in the Lord and the things that are explicitly wrong in the Lord. This usually happens as you study and learn more about your Father. It becomes very personal and the Lord starts to tell you what you are allowed to do and what you are not allowed to do. You become convicted to change some of your bad habits and begin to walk closer with the Lord, our God.
That means now, you know better. Just like my little boy knows better than to jump on his bed. He knows because he has been told.

We are also taught in Hebrews 10:26, "For if we deliberately sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment, and the fury of a fire about to consume the adversaries."
Okay, let's think about that, shall we? This tells us that, after we know better, we have rather severe consequences for deliberate disobedience. In the Old Testament, people were put to death for disobedience. "After the new covenant, those who reject God's work of grace achieved through His Son face much more serious retribution than mere physical death because they have committed a sin with eternal consequences." -Commentary on Hebrews 10 from the Apologetics Study Bible

So, if you stand in front of your dad and you deliberately go against him, you know he's probably going to "knock your block off", right? Just like my son... What do you think happens if he tries to jump on the bed now that he knows better? Well, he shall have no bed, then. The same with us... we trample on the gifts that God has given us by not doing what He asks of us or by just straight up being defiant, He will also take our bed, and probably beat us around with it and then give it to someone who has earned it.

Besides, you should always treat others the way you want to be treated... That includes God.
